CONCEITO WINES is a family business with headquarters in Cedovim, Vila Nova de Foz Côa, an international project centred in the Douro Valley, Portugal. The acquisition of the 83 hectares of vineyards around Vale da Teja started in the 1940s. However, the first bottling occurred only with the 2005 vintage. The local climate is particularly cold, with high altitude, between 450 m and 600 m. Furthermore, it has both granitic and schistose soils. Oenologist Rita Marques, with education in Douro and Bordeaux and professional experience in Douro, California, Bordeaux, New Zealand and South Africa, performs the winemaking. CONCEITO produces an yearly total of 150 000 bottles in Portugal, New Zealand and in South Africa. This make it one of the youngest and most dynamical Portuguese producers today.

The range of CONCEITO WINES includes brands CONCEITO White, Red, Bastardo, Porto Tawny 10 Years Old and Porto Vintage, as well as Conceito Contraste White and Conceito Contraste Red. CONCEITO released a Vinho Verde Alvarinho, a New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc and a South Africa blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.

In just a few years, CONCEITO WINES earned an aura of quality and personality. It’s just this that brings them respect among consumers throughout the world.

Conceito Porto Vintage 2005 Tasting Notes

Quite a Burgundian expression of Vintage Port. Initially muted, then it delivers meaty, spicy, floral (violet) dark fruits. Fresh and a bit peppery. The palate of this Conceito Porto vintage 2005 is sweet and fresh with vibrant fruit and some spicy tannins. It’s a primary wine, with some substance to the sweet, pure fruit.
